WTHR 13 Indiana Live StreamWTHR 13 Indiana is an entertainment channel based in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. WTHR 13 was founded in 1957 and owned by the Dispatch Broadcast Group of Columbus, Ohio. It is the only station in Indianapolis which is not under any large broadcast chain ownership. WTHR 13 was the first time on-air on 30 October 1957 as WLWI.
The channel was originally found by Crosley Broadcasting Corporation and affiliated with ABC initially. WLWI was including in four Crosley stations that made up “WLW Television Network”. The station faced many issued from 1957-1962 but in the end, FCC (Federal Communications Commission) permit the license to WLWI. Columbus Dispatch purchased the WLWI channel in August 1975 from Avco and changed the call letters to WTHR in February 1976. Under new ownership, the channel programming was improved but rated at third place behind WRTV and WISH.
WTHR celebrated 50th anniversary on 2 September 2007 and one of the most successful NBC affiliated channel. WTHR earned two national awards in 2011 such as Television News Directors Association (RTNDA ) and Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio. For news coverage, the channel has got the two Murrow Awards in 2012.
